JMAC Safety Systems are delighted to announce the appointment of 26-year-old Phoebe Moran as Contracts Manager in our Stockton on Tees Headquarters. A familiar figure on site, Phoebe is responsible for leading site safety decking installation teams and organising resources to ensure the completion of installation and dismantling works.

Hartlepool-born Phoebe Moran, 26 was recently promoted as JMAC’S first ever female Contracts Manager. She joins five other female heads of department – Rachel in sales & marketing, Chloe in scaffolding, Becky heading up hire and sales, Dani in accounts, Kelly our senior office manager and PA – who Managing Director Luis McCarthy describes as ‘The glue that holds JMAC together.’
Phoebe, who moves up from her role as Office Manager is over the moon to be leading the way not only at JMAC, but for the women of Tees region, proving that gender is no barrier to making it in a ‘man’s world’.
‘I think I’m still in shock,’ laughs Teesside University graduate Phoebe, who has worked for JMAC since 2018. ’Contracts Manager is a dream role for me, and one that I’m more than capable of doing, though at first I did ask myself if they’d chosen the right person. I guess I wasn’t the obvious choice to many.’
Luis McCarthy disagrees. He is proud that JMAC chose the best person for the role on her merits and not her gender.
‘Phoebe was the obvious choice,’ he says. ‘The company really value the balance of a more inclusive female team, but Phoebe was promoted because she is supremely knowledgeable, organized and driven, and will make a wonderful Contracts Manager.’

’Contracts Manager is a dream role for me.’ Phoebe Moran.

Luis has watched Phoebe grow over the last four years as she became an expert in JMAC’s safety systems and the way the company works.
‘We’ve seen Phoebe’s capabilities expand and admired the way her confidence grew until she was able to keep teams of lads in check easily and efficiently.
’She brings something to the role that many couldn’t – an ability to remain calm yet authoritative when under pressure.’
Phoebe has always been ambitious and career driven and while she came to the industry almost by default after graduating with a 2:1 degree in accounts and finance, the minute she stepped foot on a site she knew the direction she wanted her career to go.
‘I’ve absolutely loved working my way up from Accounts Assistant to Contracts Manager. I’ve finally found my calling,’ she smiles.
‘It’s a really empowering feeling to be making my mark in this industry and proving that women can excel in a man’s world. I’d encourage any woman to follow my lead.’

Contracts Manager

While she is content at the moment, Phoebe still has fire in her belly.
‘Ask me again in five years and I’ll probably be ready for my next challenge,” she laughs.
‘Though I can’t ever imagine leaving the JMAC family.’

A rigorous planning process can help ensure activities are achieved on time and on budget by ensuring all pre-work, such as approvals, is completed prior to starting on-site work while careful planning and coordination of different disciplines on-site, along with the application of lean principles, can reduce waste and variability.
